Appropriate Salad Dressings for Atkins Diet

Olivia asked: â??My ‘cans’ list says to use low-fat, fat free, or diet salad dressing. My ‘cannot’ list says to NOT use regular (or full fat) salad dressing. What kind of salad dressing do you use?? (Atkins recommends the reg. full fat, of course.)
Hello Olivia. The answer to your question seems to be a simple one, at least for most. On the Atkins Diet, many people tend to wonder what salad dressings they can eat and if they could cheat a little on their diet to enjoy a tasty salad. Fact is, you donâ??t have to cheat your diet, or your can and cannot list to enjoy salads and salad dressings.

In Dr. Atkins book, â??Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution,â? he mentions that any salad dressing with 2 grams of carbs or less and without any sugar is okay on your diet. If you should come across a dressing that has no carbs, but has very little sugar that is ok for your diet as well.

Many people have found various dressings that fit such demands. For example, Hidden Valley Ranch dressing has 2 grams of carbs in it, but also has a very small amount of sugar. Keep in mind that as long as you are not drowning your salad in dressing many dressings are acceptable such as blue cheese, Italian and even some Caesar dressings. I have also hear that ginger dressings and even vinagerettes are perfectly fine as well. But, if you want a dressing that has no carbs and no sugar at all, try Marieâ??s Bleu Cheese.

Hi Melissa. I’ve heard Ken’s Lite Ceasar Salad works wonders for your salad and your diet. Newman’s Own Ceasar Salad also works. They are both low carb. There are also many recipes out there to help make your own.
