Low Carb Recipes – Heroin Chicken Wings ?

Originally posted Sunday, March 21 2004, this recipe sounds amazingly delicious. “Ren” posted this and got a ton of comments on it. Here’s what Ren wrote:

Chewy, salty, and deliciously fatty. They are addictive therefore they are the Heroin chicken wings.

I clipped this recipe on the plane coming back from Orlando. Absolutely delicious. Let me know how you like them.

I used whole chicken wings, but the drumettes are the best part so if you can get those, do so.

24 chicken wing drumettes (2-2.5 lbs)
1 cup grated parmesan (The grated supermarket variety… don’t use the fresh stuff)
2 tbsp dried parsley
1 tbsp dried leaf oregano
2 tsp paprika
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
about 1/3 cup of melted butter.

In a medium bowl, mix all dry ingredients and break up lumps.
Pour butter into small bowl.
Dip each drumette into butter and roll in parmesan mixture, shaking off the excess. Place on baking sheet lined with foil (for easy cleanup). Bake 1 hour in preheated over at 350F until chicken is tender and coating is cripy.

makes 4 servings

Don’t skip the part about dipping them in butter… that’s what makes them good. I skipped the butter on a few of them and they did not turn out as crispy and did not even come close to tasting the same.

This is one of my new favorite recipes. I hope you enjoy.

  1. Interesting thought on that one. I think I heard something similar the other day on another board. I can’t remember where though.
